Quilt again....

I had to take some in a better light and with the binding on. It is such lovely blues and red.

And sort of scrappy binding. I used mostly this stripe with a fat quarter length of four of the fabrics. Didn't quite have enough of the stripe.

Last photos of this quilt I promise

My Teacher Appreciation Quilt

Today I managed to get into Spotlight to pick up some flannel to finish my quilt. I found the most perfect flannel, Apples!

Perfect, after all you are meant to bring your teacher an apple. I hope she see the "joke".

I did super basic quilting, combination of a large list of goodies to make or really not knowing what else to do.

It's been so hot today that there was no way I could even contemplate this until after dinner.

Just the binding to go. School finished in two weeks so I need to keep making progress with this. I want it get it all done by Monday. I think I can!!!!

Christmas Shorts

My family is all back together, wahoo!!!!! But this morning I managed to tick another item off my list. Adele's Christmas shorts. I used the same pattern as Adele's other shorts. They are pretty cute. So cute a friend saw them and wants a pair too!

I really like how this fabric is Christmas and pink. Very cute.

Adele is tired from her big adventure with Blair, said I had to take a picture with her lying down.

Bring on Christmas!!!!

Apartment Nine Done

I am so pleased. I managed to have a very productive day. I did a bit of house work, spent some lovely time with my son and finished a quilt top.

I would make a block, do a chore, do another block, read a story. It was such a great way to do it. I don't feel guilty for sewing and Ryan and I got to have a nice day together. Blair and Adele are away at the beach so it is me and the other two kids and it really has been just a nice day.

I was using plain white but started to run low, thankfully up the road is a sewing shop. Not a good one but good for that urgent purchase. I decided to use a printed white, add a little bit more to the quilt.

And the border was meant to be one white one patterned but I liked the idea of  a bit more colour.

I am really happy with it. I just can't wait to give it to Ryan's teacher. I hope she likes it. I know that not everyone is into quilts, but I have a feeling that even if this is not her colour or style she will appreciate the effort. After all she will always notice handmade stuff.

A new quilt

I have had this quilt cut out for a good six months, at least! I don't know why I never kept moving along with it. I love the fabric, I love the quilt design. But I made up two blocks and then never did any more. Now though, I am in the groove and made a further four blocks this afternoon. It's going to be a nice couch quilt size.

Ryan's teacher has been amazing this year. Just so supportive and lovely and well just amazing. We do a class present but I wanted to do a little something special for her. She always comments on the quilts Greta is wrapped up in so I thought I would make her one. I actually went and brought other fabric but couldn't pick a pattern. I say pick as I have hundreds of patterns but nothing was calling to me. For some reason I thought of a pattern and yes, this was the pattern. But it seemed silly to cut up more fabric when I had it all cut and ready. I got it out today to see if I "felt" it. Yes, totally felt it and happy with how it is going to look. Funny how sometimes you just need to break away from it and tuck it away until the time is right.

So the pattern is Apartment Nine by Little Louise Designs. I brought it off Etsy.

The fabric is, well I am not really sure. I thought it was marmalade by Moda but I just looked at it and now I am not so sure.

What ever it is, I like it, still!

Here's hoping Ryan's teacher will too.

Christmas Pants

Today I have started my Christmas sewing. I made a pair of my most ever favourite pants. The quick change pants from Anna Maria Horner.

The fabric is so cute. Birds!!!! Wearing Santa hats!!!!! Cuteness overload! If Greta wasn't asleep she would forced into these pants and many photos taken.

It's so cute!!!!

Cute!!!!!

And reversible of course. And equally as cute.

I can't wait to see her in them.

Christmas has started!

Yes, I might be excited!!!

Gutted

Finally got round to making Greta's yellow dress for athletics day. I am gutted. It's too big, massively too big. And I have no time or desire to make a smaller one.  I picked size 12 months, she's 15 ish, too long, too wide. Gutted

She's not looking too pleased either. I could NOT get a nice photo so I am guessing she is not too impressed either. Or tired.

I guess in a few months, middle of summer she will look great in it. Won't be needed then but oh well. Doesn't everyone need a yellow dress.

Sports Day

Because it is a perfect excuse, on school athletics day, I dress the girls up in Ryan's house colours. It's yellow, yellow can be blah. But I can say this year with neons being in fashion, Adele won't be lost. Ever!!!!

I started with layers and layer of tulle

Added some super bright light weight fabric and we have the brightest, puffest, yellowest skirt, EVER!!!!

I have a happy girl.

And Ryan quite likes to see us support him, so whilst he is indifferent about the style of the skirt the yellow-ness makes him happy.

So just Greta's to make. Sports day is next Friday so should have plenty of time.

Super Cute Shorts

After going to the party I felt all inspired to make some clothing. Pretty much every child had a home made dress or top. They all looked amazing and beautiful.

I brought this pattern at the end of summer last year and had even leant it out. I had the fabric picked out but it had been sitting there for a little while whilst life just was busy around us.

I used burda 9519. It wasn't the easiest pattern I have made but was well worth it. They are the cutest wee shorts.

I was going to make then just the blue fabric but I didn't really have enough. Thankfully I had a whole lot of the yellow and it worked great. I am hoping I have enough of the fabrics to make a wee outfit for Greta. I think the scrap pieces of the blue will be enough. I don't need much.

Should be perfect for summer! I do want to make another pair, hopefully they won't take as long.

Another Toy Bag

It's been ages since I made one of these.  As Adele is getting a few party invites these make the base for a great present.

I filled it with art supplies. Adele spied glitter paint so it was that teamed with brushes, stickers and nice paper. Perfect for any kid. This fabric is a Robert Kaufman that I had squirreled away. Well actually I had no idea I had it until this morning when I found it. I tossed up between this one and a fish one. But I am glad I used this one. It is really pink.

The party was great, and a lovely sunny day. And nice to meet a few other kindy mums.

Nicey Jane done

Today has been such a great day. I had no plans, no places to go. Greta and I just chilled out and made a quick visit to Donnas.

In very slow time, sewed up a few bits, added a few more, Greta had a sleep and before I knew it the quilt top was finished. All I had to do was a couple of rows of sashing and the borders so not like I made the whole thing.

It is a perfect bed size. Nice and large so there is hanging off the sides.

And such lovely girl colours without being baby girlie. This is a little lady's quilt.

It is going to be a mammoth task to quilt this. Wow! I don't even know where to start. I guess the first step will be to get some backing.

I am going to use this bright pink as the binding. It looks odd in the photo but it looks great in real life. Adds a bit of brightness to the paler colours.

I feel very lucky to have this jelly roll and on sale. I had been wanting some of this line and still can't believe I got one.

Need to start my Christmas sewing now. Collecting fabrics and patterns already so should be able to start pumping out some outfits soon.

Oh no

I am 16 squares short. Tiny little 2.5 square and not enough. This is the problem of not planning my quilts, well planning and then not sticking to my own plan. I have asked my "local" if they have anymore, I am editing, they will let me know tomorrow. They think they do.

But, the upside is, this quilt will be a great size. Perfect for a little misses bed. Will go well with her wall paper.

Doesn't it look lovely.

Greta has been my number one helper, well her type of helping, she does look rather cute and she just loves quilts. So of course that just makes me love her even more.

Testing the fabric..,
Still needs a bit of work
I'm a quilt ghost!!!!

See, such a great helper.
